New Year, New Living Room?

I have been thinking a lot about my living room lately. I love decorating, yet my living room is not what I want it to be. I used a lot of left overs from my apartment in decorating it and it just took on a theme that isn’t really me. I really don’t know how it happened. So when I get back home (I am visiting my parents till the end of the month), I am going to start making some changes.

Below is the living room as it stands now:

I already took up the rug before I left. I loved that rug when I bought it, but I soon realized that its color made the room look so dark.I have also gotten rid of the fall decorations that are in this picture. I am ready to start from scratch. I want the whole house to kind of have a beachy feel (yep, created a word beachy). I want to feel relaxed in my house like I might feel when laying on the beach.

I know that I have my work cut out for me working around my red couch and dark furniture, but I think I am up for the challenge of taking my living room back. I am thinking about incorporating more tan, some blue’s. Some nautical themed elements. I am going to have to do some shopping, thrifting, and DIY to make this room happen and I will be sharing it all with you in the coming weeks.

Hope everyone’s year has gotten off to a good start. I would love to hear from anyone who has ideas about how to re-take my room with a “water” theme!

  1. Glad your year has started well! I hope you will come back and link up your progress as you beachify your house! I definitely think you can work with your red couch and dark furniture for your beach theme – plenty of lighter colours in there and I”m sure it will look fabulous!

Thanks for linking to a Round Tuit!
Hope you have a fabulous week!
